Maharashtra Government Rejects Allegations of Deterioration at Chandrapur Green Valley Tourist Site
The Maharashtra state government has issued a strong denial in response to allegations that tourist facilities and infrastructure at the Chandrapur Green Valley site in Tumsar taluka of Bhandara district have deteriorated following its transfer to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). The government's response came during a session in the Maharashtra legislative council, where the matter was raised for clarification.
Query and Government Response in Legislative Council
MLC Parinay Fuke had formally sought information regarding whether the infrastructure at Chandrapur Green Valley had worsened after the MTDC takeover. His query specifically asked if inadequate facilities had led to a decline in tourist footfall, thereby adversely impacting local tourism in the region. The question highlighted concerns about the management and development of the site under the new administrative body.
Responding to this query, Minister Shambhuraj Desai categorically rejected all claims of deterioration. He provided detailed information to counter the allegations, emphasizing the government's commitment to maintaining and enhancing the tourist site.
Details on Land Allocation and Infrastructure Development
Minister Desai clarified that MTDC has received 0.53 hectares of land specifically for the Chandrapur Green Valley project. He stated that basic infrastructure has been successfully developed at the site and remains fully accessible to all visitors. This infrastructure is designed to support tourist activities and ensure a positive experience for those visiting the area.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted that the site has been officially identified as suitable for a range of tourism activities. These include jungle safaris, water sports training, and nature tourism, indicating its potential as a multifaceted tourist destination within the state's tourism portfolio.
Rejection of Development Stagnation Claims
In his response, Minister Desai also firmly denied allegations that development work at Chandrapur Green Valley had stalled. He refuted claims attributing any potential delays to poor coordination between agencies, a lack of a clear development plan, or funding constraints. The minister assured the council that there are no significant obstacles hindering the project's progress.
Additionally, the minister strongly refuted suggestions that government funds allocated for the site had been wasted. He emphasized that resources are being utilized effectively to ensure the site's development aligns with tourism promotion goals, thereby supporting local economic benefits through increased tourist engagement.
The government's comprehensive denial aims to reassure stakeholders and the public about the ongoing efforts to develop Chandrapur Green Valley as a key tourist attraction under MTDC's management, with a focus on sustainable tourism and infrastructure accessibility.
