In a shocking spate of violence, two property dealers were killed in separate incidents within Delhi's Outer North district of Narela, with police attributing the murders to disputes over land and property transactions. The incidents, which occurred on consecutive days, have sent ripples through the local community.
Accused Walks into Police Station, Confesses to Killing
The first case unfolded on the night of Friday, January 4, 2026, when the main accused, Dinesh Kumar, accompanied by his accomplice Bhoop Singh, voluntarily walked into the Narela police station. In a startling confession, Dinesh admitted to shooting dead 55-year-old Dharampal using his licensed revolver. The police immediately seized the weapon.
Acting on Dinesh's information, law enforcement officials recovered Dharampal's body from near a tube well in Ghoga village. The victim was found with gunshot wounds, bleeding from the neck and nose. His son, Pradeep (35), identified the body at the spot.
In his statement to the police, Pradeep revealed that his father had left home around 8 pm after Dinesh and Bhoop came to take him. Growing worried when Dharampal did not return by 10:30 pm, Pradeep began a search. He found his father's lifeless body near Dinesh's tubewell, with the two accused still present at the scene.
Land Sale Commission Sparked Fatal Feud
Pradeep's complaint shed light on the motive behind the brutal killing. He stated that his father and Dinesh were once close friends, but their relationship soured due to a monetary dispute. The tension escalated when Dharampal apparently prevented Dinesh from earning a commission from the sale of a piece of land.
"A few days back, Hawa Singh sold one bigha of land to Parvinder, a person from my village. My father had helped in the sale, but Dinesh had been hoping to earn a commission from selling the land," Pradeep wrote in his statement.
Based on this complaint, the Narela police registered an FIR under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intent) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 27 of the Arms Act. Crime and forensic teams inspected the scene, and both accused were taken into custody.
Second Dealer Found Partially Burnt in Fields
In a separate and equally grim incident, the partially burnt body of a 38-year-old property dealer was discovered late on Thursday, January 3, in the fields near Lampur Road in Narela. Police found the body inside a fenced structure on agricultural land after receiving information at the Narela police station.
The deceased was identified as Bhupender, a resident of Nahri village in Haryana's Sonipat district. He had suffered head injuries and was bleeding. In a curious detail, investigators recovered unburnt currency notes of Rs 500 denomination from a cement mixer at the scene, along with the victim's mobile phone.
Bhupender ran a business named Daksh Property with his brother. An FIR was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on the brother's complaint. The motive for this murder remains unclear, and police are actively investigating.
Police Launch Intensive Investigation
In response to both killings, the Delhi Police have launched a comprehensive investigation. Multiple police teams have been formed to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in Bhupender's murder. Authorities are meticulously analyzing footage from CCTV cameras installed in the areas surrounding both crime scenes.
The back-to-back murders of property dealers in Narela have highlighted the often-volatile nature of real estate dealings in the region. Police are probing all angles, including personal enmities and financial conflicts arising from property transactions. The investigation into both cases is ongoing.
