The arrested individual has been identified as A Mohammed Aslam, 58, a resident of Kumaran Nagar on Chettipalayam Road near Podanur in Coimbatore. He was apprehended following a search conducted by the Sundarapuram police at Aslam Residency on Wednesday, based on a tip-off received by authorities.
According to police sources, the apartment complex owned by Aslam comprises over 30 houses, which he had predominantly rented out to foreign nationals from countries including Sudan, Cambodia, Syria, and Uganda. Most of these tenants are reported to be students enrolled at a private college in the city.

During the search, five foreign nationals were discovered to be staying illegally due to their visas having expired. While these individuals were detained for further processing, Aslam was formally booked under sections 8, 23, and 24 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act. These charges pertain to his failure to maintain Form C, a mandatory document for property owners who host foreigners on their premises.
Following his arrest, Aslam was produced before a local court, where he was remanded in judicial custody. The police are continuing their investigation, and further legal procedures are underway to facilitate the deportation of the detained foreign nationals.
