Behind the glitter of millions of followers, viral videos, and lucrative brand endorsements lies a far more troubling reality in the influencer world. In recent months, several high-profile creators have found themselves entangled in shocking incidents that blur the line between digital popularity and real-world danger. What begins as fame on screens often spills over into the streets, drawing attention not only from fans but also from rivals and criminal elements, making influencers highly visible targets.

Anurag Dobhal Crashes SUV During Livestream

Popular motovlogger and former Bigg Boss 17 contestant Anurag Dobhal, widely known as UK07 Rider, was injured after crashing his SUV while livestreaming on social media on the Delhi–Meerut Expressway. The accident occurred near Masuri in Ghaziabad, where Dobhal was seen driving a Toyota Fortuner at high speeds of around 140–150 km/h during an Instagram livestream watched by over 80,000 people. In the video, he appeared visibly distressed and turned the camera toward the windscreen and speedometer moments before the vehicle veered toward the highway divider and hit the median barrier.

During the livestream, Dobhal spoke emotionally, addressing his mother and saying, "When I return in the next birth, please give me love." After the crash, bystanders rushed to help and alerted the police, who took him to Subharti Hospital in Meerut. Doctors reported he suffered injuries and fractures but was stable and later discharged after treatment. In recent days, Dobhal had worried followers by uploading a vlog calling it his "last video" and stating he was in "deep mental distress" due to family conflicts over his inter-caste marriage.

Nancy Grewal Stabbed to Death in Canada

Nancy Grewal, a 45-year-old Punjabi-origin YouTuber and influencer, was stabbed to death in LaSalle near Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on March 3. Originally from Ludhiana, she was known for posting videos commenting on India–Canada tensions, criticizing Khalistani extremism, and taking on politicians and religious leaders online. Grewal had recently posted videos against Radha Soami Satsang Beas chief Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon and confronted Nihang Amritpal Singh Mehron, the main suspect in the June 2025 murder of influencer Kanchan Kumari.

She was attacked while leaving an elderly patient's home she cared for as a nurse. According to her family, Grewal had been receiving threats prior to the attack, and a month earlier, an attempt was made to set her house on fire. Her family in Jalandhar regularly monitored security cameras at her home and contacted police when she failed to return, only to learn authorities were already trying to trace her next of kin.

Ravina and Lover Kill Husband After Being Caught

A 28-year-old YouTuber, Ravina, allegedly killed her husband with the help of her lover after he caught them in a compromising position in Haryana's Bhiwani. Both accused, Ravina from Jhojhu village in Rewari and Suresh from Hisar, have been arrested. Ravina, active on YouTube and Instagram with over 34,000 followers, had been in contact with Suresh for about 1.5 years, collaborating on content, which caused tensions in her marriage.

On March 25, her husband Praveen allegedly caught the duo in an intimate moment, leading to a heated argument. The couple reportedly strangled him with a dupatta and later moved his body on a motorcycle, dumping it in a roadside drain. The body was eventually recovered, and Ravina had claimed he had gone out in another vehicle when the family began searching. The couple had a six-year-old son.

Gunmen Open Fire at Elvish Yadav's House

In another incident, gunmen opened fire outside the residence of YouTuber and Bigg Boss winner Elvish Yadav in Gurgaon's Sector 56. The shooting occurred between 5:30 am and 6:00 am, with three masked men on a motorcycle allegedly firing around 15 bullets before fleeing. Yadav's father reported that around 25–30 rounds were fired, and the property sustained significant damage, including bullet holes and shattered glass.

Elvish was away during the attack, but family members and a caretaker were inside and escaped unharmed. The Himanshu Bhau gang claimed responsibility, accusing Yadav of promoting betting apps they alleged had "ruined many households," posting a warning to other influencers endorsing such platforms.

Saleem Wastik Stabbed Over Religious Views

In Loni, YouTuber and businessman Saleem Wastik was stabbed multiple times by two men who barged into his office. Wastik, who often posted videos about religious practices, sustained serious knife injuries to his abdomen and throat and was rushed to hospital. Investigators believe the suspects targeted him because of his views on Islam and videos he posted online, with another possible motive being one attacker's desire for social media attention.

The attackers, wearing helmets, arrived on a motorcycle, asked children outside to leave, and then attacked Wastik inside his office. When his family members rushed in, the men fled. In a related development, one suspect, Ghulfam, was killed by police in an encounter less than 48 hours after his brother Zeeshan was shot dead in a similar operation.

Abjal Sida Alleges Threats and Extortion

In Junagadh, 27-year-old YouTuber Abjal Sida accused social media influencer Kirti Patel and her associates of harassment, threats, and an attempted extortion of Rs 20 lakh. Sida alleged the conflict began after he criticized Patel for taking part in a sacred bath during the Shivratri fair while disguised as a monk, which he said was disrespectful to Sanatan Dharma. Despite being Muslim, Sida expressed respect for Sanatan Dharma in his videos.

According to the complaint, Patel and her associates allegedly pressured Sida to delete the videos with abusive messages and calls, escalating to threats of false criminal cases, including a rape charge. The harassment caused significant distress, leading Sida to attempt suicide twice. Following the complaint, Junagadh police registered a case, and Kirti Patel was later arrested from Udaipur in Rajasthan.

Rahul Maharana Stabbed to Death in Trivial Dispute

In Bhubaneswar, 32-year-old YouTuber Rahul Maharana was stabbed to death after a dispute over a trivial issue at a playground in GGP Colony. Police said the accused, army jawan Sangram Keshari Behera and his nephews, were strangers to Maharana. The incident unfolded when one of Maharana's friends was speaking loudly on his phone, disturbing the trio, leading to an argument that escalated into a physical altercation and stabbing.

Maharana was rushed to hospitals but declared dead on arrival. Authorities used mobile video clips from eyewitnesses and CCTV footage to track and arrest the suspects within three hours. Married just three months ago, Maharana is survived by a grieving family urging a thorough investigation.

Assailant Opens Fire at Nadeem "Baba" Khan's Home

Assailants opened fire outside the residence of social media influencer Nadeem "Baba" Khan in Mumbra, Thane district. The prime suspect, Shahabad alias Shambhu Qureshi, allegedly fired two rounds at Khan's parked car and one in the air around 5 am. Soon after, Khan uploaded a video challenging the attackers and claimed he had informed senior police officials about a potential threat that went unheeded.

Police tracked Qureshi to Shil Daighar, where a high-speed chase ensued, during which he allegedly fired indiscriminately, injuring two civilians. Authorities eventually overpowered him, recovered an unlicensed firearm, and took him into custody.

These incidents collectively underscore the darker realities behind internet fame, where the pursuit of online popularity can lead to severe real-world consequences, including violence, extortion, and tragic loss of life.
