Two Killed in Lightning Strikes in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi: In two different villages of Sedam taluk in Kalaburagi district, two people died due to heavy rain, wind and lightning on Thursday evening.

Incident at Jakanapally Village

Farmer Narsappa, 60, and his bull died on the spot when they were struck by lightning while working in the field at Jakanapally village under Mudhol police limits. It is said that even though rain and thunderstorms started in the evening, Narsappa was working in the field. The villagers reported that both he and the ox succumbed to a heavy lightning strike. Mudhol police visited the incident site, conducted an investigation, registered a case, and took further action.

Incident at Pakal Village

Another incident took place in Pakal village, where Lakshman Badiger died on the spot as a result of a lightning strike in the cemetery ground while the funeral of a person from the village was ongoing. In this regard, the police of Mudhol station are also visiting the place and conducting checks.

Precautionary Advisory

Due to the rain, wind and continuous thunder on Thursday evening, the authorities have requested farmers and the public to take precautions during the rain. They advise avoiding open fields, staying indoors during thunderstorms, and refraining from using metal objects or standing under trees.
