Mumbai: Skill development and entrepreneurship minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha will inaugurate Padma Bhushan Pankaj Udhas Chowk at Peddar Road on Sunday, which also marks the 75th birth anniversary of the legendary ghazal singer.

Pankaj Udhas, often referred to as 'the velvet voice of India', was a pioneer of ghazal singing in the country. Born in 1951, he passed away in 2024, leaving behind a rich legacy of romantic ghazals that captivated audiences for decades. The chowk, named after the maestro who made Mumbai his home, stands as a tribute to his immense contribution to Indian music.

Event Details

Nayaab Udhas, daughter of the late singer, expressed her gratitude and shared details about the upcoming ceremony. "Many distinguished guests from the world of music and those close to the life and legacy of my father will attend the event," she said. The inauguration is expected to draw prominent figures from the music industry and admirers of Udhas's work.
