Tragic Suicide of Teenager in Kishanganj Village
A 15-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide at Jhala village under the Kurlikot police station area of Kishanganj district on Saturday. The boy's body was discovered hanging from a tree near his residence, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, the deceased has been identified as Birju Marandi, who resided with his father, Krish Marandi. The body was recovered after authorities received information from the family members. A team from the Kurlikot police station promptly arrived at the scene and transported the body to Kishanganj Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Family Account of Events
Krish Marandi provided a detailed account of the day's events. He stated that he had asked his son to cut bamboo sticks for a puja earlier in the day. Birju complied, handing over the sticks and even bringing a betel leaf for the ritual before leaving the house. "When I was returning after performing the puja, I saw Birju sitting at a shop near a peepal tree and asked him to come home," Krish Marandi recounted. "Around one-and-a-half hours later, family members informed me that he was found hanging from a tree near our house."
Police Investigation and Statements
Kurlikot SHO Abhishek addressed the media, emphasizing that the reason behind this extreme step remains unclear at this stage. "The motive will be known after the completion of the investigation," he stated. The police are actively recording statements from family members to gather more insights. Additionally, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to the spot to assist in the investigation, which is currently underway to uncover any underlying factors or circumstances that may have led to this tragic event.
The incident has raised concerns about mental health and well-being among youth in rural areas, prompting calls for increased awareness and support systems. Authorities are urging the community to cooperate fully with the investigation to ensure a thorough understanding of the case.
