Mysuru City Corporation Launches Dual Cleanliness Initiatives
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has significantly ramped up its efforts to maintain urban hygiene with the simultaneous launch of two major cleanliness drives. These initiatives, designed to tackle sanitation challenges from different angles, mark a proactive step toward ensuring the city remains spotless and environmentally sustainable.
Special Night Sanitation Drive Inaugurated
Commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif officially inaugurated the Special Night Sanitation Drive on Friday evening at the premises of the Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple near Mysuru Palace. This innovative program aims to conduct cleaning operations during nighttime hours when residents are typically resting, thereby minimizing disruptions caused by daytime traffic and public movement.
The primary goal of this night drive is to ensure that Mysuru wakes up to a clean and fresh environment every morning. By leveraging mechanized cleaning equipment during off-peak hours, the MCC seeks to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in waste management and street sanitation.
During the pilot phase, the night cleaning activities were carried out at five key locations across the city. High-ranking officials, including Executive Engineer Srinivas, Environmental Executive Engineer Mrutyunjaya, and Environmental Engineers Maithri and Krishnamurthy, were present to oversee the operations and ensure smooth implementation.
Outer Ring Road Cleanliness Drive Launched
Complementing the night sanitation efforts, the MCC also launched the Outer Ring Road Cleanliness Drive on Saturday, commencing at Doddakere Maidan. Commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif inaugurated this campaign as well, emphasizing the importance of citizen participation in maintaining public hygiene and environmental protection.
"We are working round-the-clock to keep Mysuru clean, and we urge everyone to join us in this mission," stated Commissioner Asif. He called upon residents, organizations, and educational institutions to actively contribute to making the city both clean and green.
Superintending Engineer Manju CS, Executive Engineer Madhusudan, and other MCC officials were present during the launch. The drive saw enthusiastic participation from various non-governmental organizations, school and college students, and civic group members, who collectively cleaned multiple stretches of the Ring Road.
Strategic Approach to Urban Cleanliness
The introduction of these dual drives reflects a strategic shift in Mysuru's sanitation management. The Night Sanitation Drive addresses logistical challenges by operating during low-traffic periods, while the Ring Road initiative fosters community engagement and collective responsibility.
