In a significant move aimed at improving pilgrimage infrastructure, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan visited the revered Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple at Kondagattu in Telangana's Jagtial district on Saturday. The visit marked the formal commencement of major development works valued at Rs 35.19 crore.
Bhoomi Puja for Enhanced Pilgrim Amenities
During his visit, Kalyan performed special pujas and rituals at the temple. The key event was the bhoomi puja (groundbreaking ceremony) for a comprehensive infrastructure project. The proposed development is designed to significantly ease congestion and enhance facilities for the large number of devotees who visit the shrine, especially during peak seasons.
The project includes two major components:
- Construction of a 96-room guesthouse to provide accommodation for pilgrims.
- Building a Deeksha Viramana Mandapa, a dedicated space for devotees observing religious vows (deeksha).
Temple authorities stated that these new facilities will streamline the pilgrim experience and provide much-needed amenities.
An Emotional Connection and Collaborative Effort
Addressing the gathering after the ceremony, Pawan Kalyan shared a personal and emotional connection with the Kondagattu temple. He recounted a past life-threatening electrical accident and attributed his survival to the grace of Lord Anjaneya. "The temple gave me a new life," he stated, describing the occasion as deeply significant for him.
He highlighted that the commencement of the development works was a result of divine blessings and sustained efforts. Kalyan acknowledged the coordinated work by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) representatives and leaders from Telangana in materializing the project, which includes long-requested infrastructure like a pavilion and hostel for devotees on deeksha.
Project Execution and Temple Significance
The event was attended by TTD chairman BR Naidu, Telangana minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, along with temple officials and local representatives. Officials confirmed that the construction will begin shortly and will be carried out in phases to avoid disrupting regular temple activities.
The Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple is a major pilgrimage hub in north Telangana, attracting devotees from across Telangana and neighbouring states throughout the year. The authorities expressed optimism that the new infrastructure will substantially improve the overall pilgrimage experience, offering better comfort and space for all visitors.
