BJP Leader Nitin Nabin Issues Stern Warning to Tamil Nadu Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin
In a fiery election rally held in Ramanathapuram district on Sunday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitin Nabin delivered a strong political message, declaring that Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin will be the first to face legal and administrative action for his controversial remarks on Sanatan Dharma if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secures power in the state. Nabin's statement marks a significant escalation in the ongoing political and religious discourse ahead of the Tamil Nadu elections.
Allegations of Disrespect Towards Religious Traditions
Addressing a large gathering of supporters, Nitin Nabin launched a scathing attack on the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin. He accused the ruling party of systematically disrespecting and undermining long-standing religious traditions and practices in Tamil Nadu. "The DMK government has shown blatant disregard for our sacred customs and beliefs," Nabin asserted, highlighting specific instances of alleged interference.
One of the key examples cited by the BJP leader was the reported halting of the traditional practice of lighting the Karthigai deepam at the revered Thiruparankundram temple. "This is not just an isolated incident but part of a pattern of repeated insults to Sanatan traditions and deities," Nabin emphasized. He called upon the people of Tamil Nadu to respond decisively to what he described as continuous affronts to their faith and cultural heritage.
Criticism of Udhayanidhi Stalin and Rahul Gandhi
Nitin Nabin specifically targeted Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his previous comments where Sanatan Dharma was compared to diseases such as dengue and malaria. "Such derogatory and inflammatory statements from a person holding high public office are unacceptable and must be condemned," Nabin stated, vowing that accountability would be ensured under an NDA regime.
Furthermore, the BJP leader turned his attention to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, criticizing him for his perceived silence on the issue. "Rahul Gandhi speaks vocally about matters like Sabarimala in Kerala but conveniently avoids addressing similar concerns in Tamil Nadu. This selective outrage exposes his political hypocrisy," Nabin remarked, attempting to draw a contrast between the BJP's stance and that of the opposition.
Accusations of Misgovernance and Corruption
Expanding his critique beyond religious matters, Nitin Nabin alleged widespread misgovernance by the DMK administration. He claimed that crime rates, including cybercrime, have surged across Tamil Nadu, with the state government failing to take effective action. "The law and order situation has deteriorated significantly, putting the safety and security of citizens at risk," he warned.
Nabin also accused the DMK of fostering an environment of corruption and financial irregularities, which he argued has adversely impacted livelihoods and contributed to rising unemployment. Shifting focus to positive achievements, Nabin highlighted the efforts of the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in addressing the concerns of Tamil Nadu's fishermen. He noted that over 700 fishermen, including many from Ramanathapuram district, have been safely repatriated, with ongoing initiatives to bring back those still stranded in Sri Lanka.
Urging voters to support the NDA alliance in the upcoming elections, Nitin Nabin outlined a vision of development-centric governance. He made specific promises, including transforming Rameswaram into a world-class tourist destination to boost local economy and create employment opportunities. "We are committed to ushering in an era of progress and prosperity for all sections of society in Tamil Nadu," he assured the electorate.

Prior to the Ramanathapuram rally, Nitin Nabin actively participated in campaign activities across the region. He joined a vibrant roadshow in Sattur to express support for BJP state president and candidate Nainar Nagendran. Later, he campaigned in Madurai alongside BJP Tamil Nadu chief K. Annamalai, rallying support for party candidate Raama Sreenivasan. These efforts underscore the BJP's intensified focus on strengthening its presence and electoral prospects in Tamil Nadu.
