Initial estimates had projected only about 4 kilometers of optical fiber cable (OFC), but the revised project scope has expanded dramatically. The comprehensive cable network now includes both 4-core and 8-core industrial power cables, accounting for the substantial increase in total length. Remarkably, this expanded scope has been accommodated without any increase to the sanctioned project budget of Rs10 crore.
In addition to the power cables, the project requires 11,000 meters of encoder cables, which are essential for transmitting critical operational data. Officials from MahaMetro have reported substantial progress in material procurement. To date, they have received:
- 23,800 meters of the required 4-core cable
- 23,000 meters of the necessary 36,500 meters of 8-core cable
The remaining 13,500 meters of 8-core cable are expected to arrive in batches over the coming weeks, ensuring continuous workflow.
