Man Shot Dead in Amritsar Village, Police Suspect Old Rivalry as Motive

A 33-year-old man was brutally shot dead while sitting inside his car outside a chicken shop in Bhullar village, Amritsar, on Wednesday night. Police officials have indicated that they suspect the murder is a direct fallout of an old and unresolved rivalry between the parties involved.

Details of the Fatal Attack

The victim, identified as Manjit Singh, was attacked at approximately 10:30 PM. According to eyewitness accounts provided by his cousin, Malkit Singh, the assailants arrived at the scene on a Honda Splendor motorcycle accompanied by two Royal Enfield motorcycles. Without warning, they opened fire, discharging an estimated four to five rounds. Tragically, three of these bullets struck Manjit Singh, causing critical injuries.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by family members and locals. However, despite their efforts, Manjit Singh succumbed to his injuries en route, pronounced dead before reaching medical care.

Family Alleges Gangster Links and Previous Dispute

Family members of the deceased have come forward with strong allegations. They claim that the murder is intricately linked to a previous dispute for which a formal police case had already been registered earlier in the year 2024. Malkit Singh, the victim's cousin, has publicly stated his belief that the accused individuals have established connections with local gangsters, suggesting a more organized criminal element behind the attack.

"This was not a random act. It was a targeted killing stemming from an old enmity," a family member stated, requesting anonymity due to fear of reprisal.

Police Response and Investigation

In response to the incident, the Amritsar police have promptly registered a formal case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Law enforcement authorities have confirmed that intensive raids and search operations have been launched across the region to trace and apprehend the accused individuals involved in the shooting.

A senior police officer involved in the investigation commented, "We are pursuing all possible leads. The motive appears to be personal enmity, but we are also investigating the alleged gangster links mentioned by the family. Our teams are working round the clock to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice swiftly."

The case has sent shockwaves through the local community in Bhullar village, raising concerns about law and order. Residents are calling for increased police patrolling and a thorough investigation to prevent any escalation of violence or retaliatory actions.
