I apologise for such an irresponsible remark," Basu conveyed from the Chief Minister's message.
He further elaborated, "Didi and I feel that you are part and parcel of our own family. The remarks were disappointing for us also. The MP didn't consult the party while making the statement and it is not our party's stance. We apologise again. Please don't misunderstand us for this stray comment."

"Bengalis led the war for independence. Who were the Gujaratis? ... 68% of the people who were killed and incarcerated in Kala Pani were Bengalis, followed by Punjabis. Can you name me one Gujarati who was there, apart from your big hero, Veer Savarkar, who only wanted to sit and write apology letters? Please let us know," Moitra stated during her address.
