However, civic infrastructure has lagged severely, with no piped water supply, inadequate stormwater drains, and incomplete underground sewage systems, leaving many residents dissatisfied.
The DMK has pledged major infrastructure projects to address these gaps, including the proposed Tamil Nadu Knowledge City at nearby Tiruvallur. Additionally, metro rail connectivity is set to link Poonamallee and Porur with Vadapalani, with a proposed extension from Tirumangalam to Pattabiram. A planned bus terminus at Kuthambakkam could potentially become the next Koyambedu.
