BRS Leaders Welcome Court Verdict on Kaleshwaram Probe, Demand Immediate Barrage Repairs
In Hyderabad, leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have welcomed the Telangana High Court's verdict concerning the one-man PC Ghose Commission, which investigated alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram irrigation project. Senior BRS figures, including T Harish Rao, KT Rama Rao, and B Vinod Kumar, issued separate statements characterizing the court's decision as a significant rebuke to what they termed the Congress government's 'malicious campaign' against the opposition party.
Court Ruling Seen as a Slap on Government Propaganda
The BRS leaders asserted that the high court's ruling effectively serves as a slap on the face of the Congress administration's propaganda efforts. They accused the state government and the commission of failing to adhere to the principles of natural justice during their investigation into the Kaleshwaram project issues. The leaders emphatically called for an immediate halt to what they describe as misleading propaganda against the BRS.
Furthermore, they demanded that the government prioritize the urgent repair of the Medigadda barrage, highlighting that two pillars have sunken and require immediate attention to restore irrigation water to the farming community.
Harish Rao Criticizes Government's Delay and Petty Politics
Former minister T Harish Rao was particularly vocal in his criticism. He urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to cease engaging in what he called 'petty politics' and to focus instead on the critical task of repairing the damaged pillars at Medigadda. "The government has already wasted two and a half years of valuable time," Harish Rao stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
He pointed out that Medigadda is just one component of the larger Kaleshwaram project, which comprises 100 elements. Harish Rao countered the Congress government's repeated claims that Rs 1 lakh crore was 'washed away,' labeling such statements as mere propaganda. He argued that politics should not come at the expense of the state's and farmers' interests.
Call for Governance Over Revenge and Focus on Welfare
Harish Rao proposed that by investing Rs 100 to Rs 200 crore, there exists an opportunity to provide irrigation water to an additional 2 to 3 lakh acres through the Kaleshwaram project. He stressed that politics should be rooted in governance and delivery rather than revenge. "If the government has confidence, it should focus on implementing better welfare schemes, fulfilling its six guarantees, and delivering on promises made to the people, instead of targeting the opposition," he advised.
Additionally, he clarified that the NDSA (National Dam Safety Authority) report was merely a technical engineering assessment and had no bearing on executive decisions, attempting to downplay its implications.
Allegations of Political Vendetta and Assembly Suspensions
Harish Rao also alleged that the BRS has consistently exposed the failures and purported scams of the Congress government in the state assembly over the past two-and-a-half years. "Unable to answer us, they suspended us from the assembly. Within 48 hours of exposing corruption, they initiated two enquiries against me," he claimed, portraying these actions as politically motivated.
He concluded by demanding that the government address the pressing problems faced by farmers and students, reiterating the need for substantive action over political maneuvering.
