BMS Launches Phased Agitation Over Unfilled Power Corporation Posts in Rajasthan

The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has announced a phased agitation beginning Wednesday, accusing power corporations in Rajasthan of failing to implement state government orders to recruit establishment officers despite clear budgetary provisions. This move comes after directives issued on October 14 last year to strengthen employee welfare and the ministerial cadre remain unimplemented, sparking widespread discontent among workers.

Core Demands and Implementation Failure

BMS has demanded the immediate creation of establishment officer posts on the prescribed pay scale, along with a comprehensive restructuring of subordinate positions. According to the organization, the non-creation of these posts has deprived ministerial employees in power corporations of proper promotion opportunities, creating a stark disparity with employees in other departments, corporations, boards, and institutions who have already received promotions following similar restructuring efforts.

Sushil Saini, vice president of the Rajasthan Vidyut Shramik Mahasangh (BMS) in Jaipur, emphasized the gravity of the situation. He stated that this failure not only contradicts the intent of the state government but also constitutes a direct injustice to employees who have been waiting for rightful career advancement.

Administrative Chaos and Operational Burden

The absence of establishment officers has led to severe disruptions in crucial personnel-related functions. Key areas such as service record management, administrative work, and establishment matters are being adversely affected, creating operational inefficiencies across power corporations.

Saini further explained that work is being carried out without a proper structural framework, placing an unnecessary and excessive burden on other officers. This lack of organization has resulted in significant delays and widespread administrative disorder, hampering the smooth functioning of essential services.

Escalation Threats and Employee Welfare

If no positive action is taken by the authorities, BMS has warned that it will be compelled to intensify its agitation in the interest of employees. The organization is targeting the failure of the electricity administration to implement budget directives that were specifically designed to enhance employee welfare and operational efficiency.

The phased agitation strategy aims to draw attention to systemic issues within Rajasthan's power sector, highlighting how budgetary allocations have not translated into tangible improvements for workers. This situation underscores broader concerns about governance and implementation gaps in state-run corporations.
