Six Arrested After Violent Road Rage Attack in Delhi

Six Individuals Apprehended Following Violent Road Rage Incident in South Delhi

In a disturbing incident of public violence, authorities in South Delhi have arrested six people, including one woman, after a video surfaced showing a brutal road rage attack on a family's vehicle in the Sangam Vihar area. The incident, which occurred in a narrow and crowded lane, has sparked widespread concern over road safety and public order.

Altercation Over Right of Way Escalates into Mob Attack

According to police reports, the altercation began when a family traveling from Faridabad to Kalkaji was forced to divert their route due to ongoing road repair work. Upon entering G Block of Sangam Vihar, a dispute over the right of way with a motorcyclist quickly escalated. The rider, allegedly joined by five to six associates, launched a violent assault on the family's white subcompact car.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Gaurav (19), Titu (19), Banwari (50), Jeetu (23), Sachin (22), and a 22-year-old woman. Additionally, a minor has been apprehended in connection with the incident. Police confirmed that three people, including the complainant Rampal, sustained minor injuries during the attack.

Graphic Video Footage Captures Chaotic Scene

The circulating video footage provides a harrowing visual account of the incident. The recording shows:

  • A group of men swarming the stationary vehicle in the narrow lane
  • Multiple individuals kicking the car and punching its windows
  • One man climbing onto the vehicle's bonnet during the assault
  • A woman in the back seat attempting to exit before retreating as the attack continued
  • Repeated attempts to force open both front doors, with the driver's side door being violently slammed and pulled open multiple times
  • One assailant appearing to wield a heavy object to smash the car's glass

DCP (South) Anant Mittal stated that the situation was brought under control following the arrests, with investigations ongoing into the full circumstances surrounding the violent outburst.

Bystander Reactions and Repeated Assault

The video also captures several bystanders crowding the scene and recording the incident on their mobile phones. Some men can be seen attempting to pull the attackers away from the vehicle, though their efforts proved insufficient to stop the violence.

Most alarmingly, the footage shows that even after briefly dispersing, the group returned within seconds to continue their assault on the vehicle, indicating a determined and sustained attack rather than a momentary outburst of anger.

This incident highlights growing concerns about road rage violence in urban areas and raises questions about public safety in crowded neighborhoods. The swift police response and subsequent arrests demonstrate authorities' commitment to addressing such violent behavior, but the graphic nature of the attack has left many questioning what preventive measures might be implemented to avoid similar incidents in the future.
