Gurgaon Man Held for Allegedly Killing Wife with Gas Cylinder in Rented Flat
In a shocking incident in Gurgaon, a 22-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife by striking her with a gas cylinder at their rented accommodation in the Bajghera area. The victim, identified as Gunjan (22), originally from Samastipur in Bihar, was discovered dead with severe head and facial injuries, indicating a brutal assault.
Discovery of the Crime and Police Response
Suspicion arose on March 24 when the landlord and neighbors noticed that the couple's house had been locked since the previous night. After no response by the afternoon, they peered inside and found Gunjan lying motionless on the floor. They immediately alerted the authorities.
A team from the Bajghera police station swiftly arrived at the scene and examined the woman's body, which bore multiple injury marks. Preliminary investigations suggest signs of a violent sexual assault, adding to the gravity of the crime.
Investigation and Arrest Details
It was revealed that Gunjan's husband, Sunil, had been missing since the night of the incident, leading police to suspect his involvement. The room had been rented to Sunil on March 20, based on a recommendation from his brother-in-law, Jeevan, who had previously resided there. Notably, Jeevan had visited the room on March 23, just a day before Gunjan was found dead.
Based on the landlord's complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police successfully arrested Sunil from Gurgaon on March 26. According to officials, he confessed that an argument escalated on the night of March 23, prompting him to attack his wife with a gas cylinder, which resulted in her death.
Ongoing Investigation and Future Steps
Further investigation is currently underway to determine if any other individuals were involved in the crime. Authorities are also verifying the role of the brother-in-law mentioned in the complaint, as part of a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
The couple, who worked as daily-wage labourers, had been living in the rented accommodation for only a short period, highlighting the sudden and violent nature of this domestic dispute. Police are urging the public to come forward with any additional information that might aid in the investigation.
