Four Arrested, One Surrenders in Begusarai Murder Case; Pistol Recovered
In a significant development in the murder case of 27-year-old Mintu Kumar, police in Begusarai have made multiple arrests and recovered the weapon used in the crime. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday evening in Rachiyahi village under the Singhaul police station area, has seen swift action from law enforcement.
Arrests and Confessions
On Saturday, a special police team arrested four of the five named accused in the murder. The arrested individuals are Manish Kumar, Pramod Rai, Kanchan Devi, and Gudiya Kumari, all residents of Rachiyahi village. They were apprehended from the town police station area in Katihar.
According to Begusarai Sadar-1 SDPO Anand Kumar Pandey, the arrested suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation. "All four are accused in the case and belong to Rachiyahi village. During interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in the crime," the SDPO stated.
Recovery of Weapon and Further Arrest
Based on information provided by the arrested accused, police subsequently nabbed Munna Paswan from Kailashpur village under Singhaul police station limits. During this operation, authorities recovered the pistol used in the murder along with two live cartridges, marking a crucial breakthrough in the investigation.
Surrender of Fifth Accused
Meanwhile, the fifth named accused, Chhotu Kumar, surrendered before a local court amid mounting pressure from the police. The SDPO confirmed this development, noting that further investigation is underway to uncover all aspects of the case.

The murder occurred when Mintu Kumar was shot dead by criminals on Wednesday evening while he had gone out to buy vegetables. Following the incident, his brother, Pintu Kumar, lodged an FIR at Singhaul police station, naming five persons in connection with the murder. The swift police response has led to these arrests and recoveries, highlighting ongoing efforts to address crime in the region.
