Pet Cat Dispute Escalates into Violent Altercation in Gorakhpur, Leaving Man with Fractures
A seemingly trivial disagreement over a pet cat has spiraled into a serious violent incident in the Tiwaripur area of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The altercation resulted in a 30-year-old man sustaining severe injuries, including fractures in both his arms, after he was allegedly assaulted and thrown from a terrace by his relatives.
Root of the Conflict: A Feline Intruder
According to police reports, the conflict originated from ongoing issues involving a pet cat owned by Shannu, the uncle of the complainant, Mohammad Shehzade. The family resides in separate portions of the same house near Kachchi Bagh. Shehzade alleged that Shannu's cat frequently trespassed into his living space, specifically the kitchen and bedroom, creating significant mess and disorder.
Shehzade stated in his complaint that he had made multiple requests to his uncle to restrain the animal, as its intrusions led to foul odors and forced his family to repeatedly clean the affected areas. Despite these appeals, his concerns were reportedly ignored, allowing the situation to fester and build tension within the household.
The Violent Escalation and Alleged Assault
The simmering tensions boiled over on Wednesday when the cat once again entered Shehzade's portion of the house. An argument ensued after Shehzade confronted his uncle about the recurring issue. The verbal dispute quickly turned physical.
Shehzade claimed that during the altercation, Shannu, along with another family member identified as Sana Khatoon, assaulted him. The situation allegedly worsened when they threw him off the terrace of the house. The fall caused Shehzade to lose consciousness immediately.
Family members rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Following an X-ray examination, doctors confirmed that Shehzade had sustained fractures in both his arms as a result of the traumatic incident.
Police Intervention and Conflicting Accounts
In response to the complaint filed by Shehzade, the local police have taken official action. Station House Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh confirmed that an FIR was registered on Thursday evening based on the allegations. The case is currently under active investigation as authorities work to ascertain the full sequence of events.
However, Shannu has presented a contradictory version of events, vehemently denying the assault allegations. He characterized the police complaint as an attempt to distort the nature of what he described as a routine domestic dispute, suggesting it was being given an exaggerated and misleading narrative.
The incident highlights how minor household disagreements can escalate into serious confrontations with severe consequences, underscoring the importance of conflict resolution within family settings.
