The grim details emerged through the efforts of Jagdeep Kumar from Goraya in Jalandhar district. He made two separate trips to the Russian capital this year, desperately seeking information about his missing brother, Mandeep. Following his second visit, Jagdeep returned with a harrowing document: a list from Russian authorities confirming the deaths of several Indians on the frontlines.
Casualties Span Multiple Indian States
The list reveals that the fatalities are not confined to one region. Three of the deceased are from Punjab, while the others hail from Uttar Pradesh and Jammu. This confirms the widespread nature of the recruitment and the subsequent tragic outcomes for these individuals and their families back in India.
"I have been trying to coordinate with authorities to get their bodies back," stated Jagdeep Kumar on Sunday. Highlighting his ongoing struggle, he added that he had called on Rajya Sabha MP Baba Seechewal for assistance, as the parliamentarian had previously helped facilitate his visit to Russia.
