YouTube has unveiled a significant suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, strategic partnerships, and new training programmes specifically for the Indian market. The announcements were made at the platform's annual Impact Summit, held in New Delhi on Monday, November 19, 2025.
Empowering Creators and Learners with AI
A central highlight of the summit was the introduction of a conversational AI tool designed to transform how viewers interact with content. This innovative feature allows users to ask questions directly within the video player and receive immediate answers, creating a more dynamic and informative viewing experience. The tool is initially available in English, with plans to add Hindi support in the near future.
For creators, YouTube is rolling out Edit with AI within the YouTube Create app more broadly. This tool is engineered to drastically cut down manual editing time by generating a first draft from raw footage. Furthermore, the platform has begun an open beta for its likeness detection system for members of the YouTube Partner Program. This crucial feature alerts creators to AI-generated videos that misuse their facial likeness and empowers them to request the removal of such content.
Strategic Partnerships for a Knowledge-Based Economy
Aligning with its focus on India's knowledge economy, YouTube revealed key institutional collaborations. A major partnership with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) in Mumbai will provide students with knowledge-sharing sessions, a 'Create with AI' funding programme, and support for artist projects in animation, gaming, and film.
Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, stated that this initiative would give students direct exposure to the technologies shaping global creative industries, noting that AI is set to fundamentally influence future production methods.
In the healthcare sector, YouTube announced a collaboration with the College of Nursing at AIIMS to distribute professional nursing courses on topics like wound care and infection control. Dr. Latha Venkatesan, Principal of the college, emphasized that this move would democratize access to high-quality training that was previously confined to campus.
Enhancing Access to Credible Information and Digital Well-being
Addressing the critical need for reliable information, YouTube is expanding its measures to improve access to credible health content. The platform will increase the availability of its First Aid shelves, ensuring that search results surface reliable and easy-to-understand videos on a wider range of health topics.
On the digital well-being front, YouTube is introducing a new feature that allows users to set daily limits on scrolling through the Shorts feed. This builds upon existing tools designed to help all users, including those under 18, manage their viewing habits more effectively.
Government officials, including Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi, welcomed the new measures, stating that such cooperation between public institutions and digital platforms aligns with national goals for information access, digital safety, and economic participation.
The summit concluded with YouTube reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Indian market, pledging to continue investing in tools that support creators, strengthen well-being features, and make specialized knowledge more accessible as India's digital landscape continues to evolve.
