He steps into the role previously held by Rohit Prasad, a top Amazon executive who oversaw the company's artificial intelligence initiatives. Prasad, who joined Amazon in 2013, is best known for his role as the head scientist for the Alexa voice assistant. He was tapped to lead Amazon's AGI development in 2023 and will be departing the company by the end of this year.
