An 18-year-old woman from the western part of Ahmedabad was reunited with her family after leaving home following an argument on Friday. Officials from the Abhayam 181 women's helpline reported that the college student resides with her parents and grandparents.
Details of the Incident
On Friday, the woman argued with her parents over her studies after they expressed concern that she was becoming distracted by various activities and social media. They advised her to concentrate on her academics. According to a counselor from the helpline, the woman left home with her college bag following the scolding.
She purchased an AMTS day pass and spent the day traveling around the city. Later, she went to a temple. Around 11 p.m., temple caretakers became suspicious and questioned her. When she stated that she had no one to contact, the caretakers reached out to the helpline for assistance.
Reunion with Family
The woman eventually shared her father's contact details with the counselors and police. Authorities then contacted her family, who had been deeply worried about her safety. They had already reached out to relatives and friends in an effort to locate her. The family expressed relief upon learning that she was safe and in the care of the helpline team.
The Abhayam 181 helpline officials emphasized the importance of addressing family conflicts and providing support to young individuals facing academic pressure. They urged parents to communicate openly with their children to prevent such incidents.
