A tragic road accident occurred near the roundabout of sectors 39/40/55/56 in Chandigarh, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old biker and injuries to a woman riding pillion. The incident took place on Friday morning when a motorcycle ahead of them took a sudden turn, leading to a collision.

The deceased has been identified as Mandeep, a resident of Ambala, Haryana. The injured woman, Antima Pal, 23, from Behlolpur village in Mohali, recounted the sequence of events. She stated that Mandeep picked her up at around 10 am on Friday, and they were heading towards Sector 43. While en route, a motorcyclist in front of them suddenly swerved towards the slip road, causing Mandeep to lose balance. The bike skidded, and both riders fell onto the road, sustaining severe injuries.
Medical Response and Allegations
Passersby rushed the victims to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH-16) in Sector 16, Chandigarh. However, Mandeep could not survive his injuries and was declared dead upon arrival. Antima, who suffered serious injuries, was later referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) for advanced treatment. She alleged that the accident was caused by the rash and negligent driving of the motorcyclist who made the sudden turn.
Local authorities are investigating the matter. The police have registered a case and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the rider responsible for the sudden maneuver. No arrests have been made as of now. The incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving on city roads, especially at roundabouts where vehicles often change lanes abruptly.
