A tragic incident occurred in Pune's Dhayari area on Saturday, where a 27-year-old housewife, Swati Choudhari, was allegedly killed by her father-in-law following a domestic dispute. The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed, repeatedly banged her head against a wall at their flat around 11:30 am.
Details of the Incident
Senior police inspector Atul Bhos of Nanded City police stated, "Choudhari's father-in-law fled after locking the flat's entrance door from the outside. We found her body in the bathroom. We have launched a search for him." According to the police, the victim's husband, a clerk at the Shivajinagar court, had left home on Saturday morning. The father-in-law was present in the house and got into an argument with her.
Sequence of Events
Based on police observations, the father-in-law entered the bathroom while Swati was washing clothes. He banged her head against the wall multiple times. Subsequently, he picked up a stone used for washing clothes and struck her on the head. The victim had a six-month-old baby boy, who was found crying by police and neighbors while his mother lay motionless in the bathroom. Swati was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Investigation Underway
The police have launched a search for the accused father-in-law. The motive behind the domestic dispute is still under investigation. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the issue of domestic violence.
