Addressing public gatherings in Guwahati and Nagaon on December 29, 2025, the senior BJP leader framed illegal infiltration as an existential threat. Amit Shah asserted that the presence of Bangladeshi infiltrators endangers the state's people, its land, and the unique Assamese culture. He positioned the BJP as the sole protector of Assam's interests, in stark contrast to the policies of the opposition.

In a direct attack, Shah accused the Congress party of historically viewing illegal immigrants from Bangladesh as a mere vote bank, while ignoring the severe risks their migration posed.
