MLA Bimla Chaudhary Reviews Development and Monsoon Preparedness in Pataudi Wards
In a proactive move to address civic challenges, Pataudi MLA Bimla Chaudhary on Monday chaired a review meeting focusing on development works across 11 wards in the region. The meeting, held with officials from the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM), centered on critical issues such as waterlogging prevention and the expansion of essential infrastructure ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
Infrastructure Expansion and Land Reclassification Efforts
During the session, Chaudhary emphasized the urgent need to expand civic amenities, including the establishment of community centres in every ward. She highlighted a significant obstacle to development: a large portion of land in the municipal area is classified as gair mumkin pahad (uncultivable hill land) or village common land. This classification has severely restricted development activities in these villages, despite their substantial populations. The MLA announced that efforts will be made to reclassify such land in affected villages to facilitate broader development works.
Monsoon Preparedness and Water Management Initiatives
To combat waterlogging, Chaudhary directed MCM officials to ensure thorough preparations. MCM Commissioner Pradeep Singh provided updates, noting that the city's 55-kilometer drain network has already been cleaned once and will undergo desilting again before the monsoon. Permanent solutions to waterlogging have been implemented at key locations like IMT Chowk and Rampura Chowk along the national highway, with work at other vulnerable points expected to be completed soon. Additionally, the corporation is advancing its rainwater harvesting efforts, with 47 out of 75 planned pits completed, 20 under construction, and budget approval secured for the remainder.
Water Supply and Sanitation Projects
Addressing water scarcity, Chaudhary called for coordination with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to facilitate canal-based water supply to Kasan and nearby villages. Officials confirmed that a request has been sent to GMDA for 15 million liters per day (MLD) of canal water to villages including Kasan, Khoh, Bans Kusla, Hariya, and Dhana, with approval pending. In the sanitation sector, sewage treatment plants are planned for Kasan, Nainwal, and Naurangpur villages, as part of broader efforts to improve public health and environmental standards.
Ongoing Development Works and Civic Management
Officials reported that approximately 30 civil works are currently underway across the 11 wards, alongside seven projects related to parks, ponds, and stadiums. In the power infrastructure segment, Electrical XEN Vasu Baggan announced that 5,000 streetlights will be installed in the first phase, with more planned based on ward-level needs. To enhance urban cleanliness, a tender has been floated for mechanized road sweeping, and an agency has been engaged to manage stray animals. The civic body has also taken action against illegal waste dumping, seizing three vehicles and issuing notices to owners of vacant plots used as garbage dumps or scrap yards.
This comprehensive review underscores a concerted push by local authorities to bolster infrastructure and resilience in the Pataudi region, aiming to improve quality of life and mitigate seasonal challenges effectively.
