GT Devegowda Directs Officials to Ensure Summer Water Supply in Mysuru Villages

Former minister and Chamundeshwari MLA GT Devegowda has issued a directive to officials to guarantee water supply to all villages in his constituency during the upcoming summer season. The instruction was given during a meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat hall on Monday, where Devegowda emphasized the need for proactive measures to prevent last-minute crises and ensure smooth water distribution.

Preventive Measures and Coordination

Devegowda urged administrative officers and Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) to work responsibly, especially in the absence of elected members. He stressed the importance of weekly visits to villages to monitor the situation closely and coordinate effectively among officials. Early identification of water-scarce areas is a priority, with plans to arrange alternative supply systems to mitigate shortages.

  • Prioritizing drinking water for schools, anganwadis, and crematoriums.
  • Checking infrastructure such as pipelines to ensure connectivity to all streets.
  • Revising action plans to focus on water supply and sanitation.

Financial Utilization and Development Plans

Devegowda called for the effective utilization of funds from the 15th Finance Commission, interest income, and tax collections. He emphasized that development plans must include repairs of buildings and basic facilities in villages to enhance overall infrastructure.

"Funds should be directed towards essential services to improve the quality of life in rural areas," he stated during the meeting.

Protection of Government Properties and Waste Management

Another critical aspect discussed was the protection of government school properties. Devegowda stressed the need for proper land records (RTC) through coordination between revenue, education, and rural development departments. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of cleanliness, waste segregation, and identifying land for waste management as key responsibilities for officials.

Officials were instructed to:

  1. Prepare a comprehensive report of village needs, including schools, anganwadis, and water facilities.
  2. Submit the report by the first week of April for timely action.

Guidance from ZP CEO

Zilla Panchayat CEO S Ukesh Kumar advised officers to work with a ground-level understanding to resolve issues efficiently. He emphasized the importance of practical approaches and direct engagement with communities to address their concerns effectively.

This directive aims to ensure that villages in the Chamundeshwari constituency are well-prepared for the summer season, with adequate water supply and improved sanitation facilities to support the local population.
