Cuttack Ram Navami Security: Extensive Measures Deployed for Peaceful Celebrations

In preparation for the Ram Navami celebrations on Friday, the Cuttack commissionerate police have implemented a comprehensive security plan across the city. This initiative aims to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure a peaceful festival environment.

Massive Police and CRPF Deployment

More than 30 platoons of police force have been strategically deployed throughout Cuttack, with a particular focus on areas identified as sensitive. To bolster this security grid, personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have also been pressed into service, enhancing the overall law enforcement presence.

Advanced Surveillance and Monitoring

Extensive drone surveillance and over 300 CCTV cameras are actively monitoring key routes, marketplaces, and congregation points in real-time. Special control rooms have been established to coordinate this surveillance effectively, ensuring continuous oversight during the festivities.

Flag Marches and Barricading in Sensitive Areas

Police have conducted flag marches in sensitive pockets, including Dargha Bazar, Choudhury Bazaar, Dolamundai, and Buxi Bazaar. Special barricading arrangements have been made in vulnerable localities, with Dargha Bazar receiving heightened attention due to past communal tensions during Dussehra idol immersion processions, which led to violent clashes, injuries, arrests, and temporary internet suspensions.

Official Statements and Coordination Efforts

Deputy Commissioner of Police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo emphasized that comprehensive security arrangements are in place. He stated, "We are keeping a close watch through CCTV surveillance and have made special barricading and static deployment in vulnerable areas like Dargha Bazar. Citizens are requested to cooperate with the police and refrain from spreading rumours or misinformation." Coordination meetings with religious procession organizers and peace committees have been held to foster a harmonious festival atmosphere.

Intensified Patrolling and Traffic Management

To maintain strict vigil, police have intensified patrolling, set up checkpoints, and deployed plain-clothes personnel in crowded areas. Senior officers are personally supervising these arrangements and reviewing security deployments daily. Additionally, special traffic plans have been implemented, including diversions and regulated vehicular movement along major procession routes to avoid congestion and ensure smooth passage for emergency services. Traffic personnel are stationed at key intersections, with commuters advised to follow designated routes.
