BJP Asserts Development Agenda in Assam, Criticizes Opposition's 'Ideological Bankruptcy'
BJP Highlights Development in Assam, Slams Opposition Alliance

BJP Confident in Assam's Electoral Battlefield, Slams Opposition's 'Political Theatrics'

In Guwahati on Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared it has entered the electoral arena for Assam's upcoming contests firmly anchored on the dual pillars of comprehensive development and robust safeguards for indigenous communities. Party spokesperson Pranjal Kalita articulated this position, emphasizing that the unprecedented rise and consolidation of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state has left the Congress-led opposition alliance grappling with palpable anxiety and profound political disarray.

Opposition Accused of 'Ideological Bankruptcy' and Hollow Rhetoric

Kalita launched a scathing critique, asserting that the opposition, bereft of any substantive issues or credible vision, has plunged into the 2026 electoral contest in a state of utter ideological bankruptcy. He claimed they are faltering in genuine engagement with the people of Assam and have resorted instead to hollow, repetitive rhetoric devoid of practical solutions or forward-looking policies.

"While the BJP has been meticulously crafting and implementing a transformative roadmap for Assam's holistic progress, the opposition, lacking both vision and public credibility, seeks to traverse the electoral landscape solely through relentless and baseless criticism," Kalita stated emphatically.

Allegations of Importing 'Alien' Political Forces

The BJP spokesperson leveled serious allegations against Congress's state president, Gaurav Gogoi, and Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) chief, Lurinjyoti Gogoi. He accused them of indulging in desperate political theatrics by importing an alien force—the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)—into Assam's political fray.

"This entity is fundamentally disconnected from Assam's unique socio-cultural ethos and historical context," Kalita argued, suggesting this move is a cynical, last-ditch attempt to secure electoral gains without genuine grassroots connection or understanding of local aspirations.

Historical Betrayals and Moral Bankruptcy Cited

Kalita further contended that the people of Assam have already repudiated the Congress-led alliance due to its consistent opposition to the long-pending, legitimate demands of the tea tribe community. These demands include rightful recognition and secure land entitlements, issues of deep socio-economic significance.

Drawing a striking parallel to historical betrayals, Kalita alleged that in their ruthless pursuit of power, Gaurav Gogoi and Lurinjyoti Gogoi have sought political refuge under the shadow of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. He highlighted that Soren has previously faced serious allegations of corruption, thereby, in Kalita's view, exposing the profound moral bankruptcy underpinning the opposition's political enterprise in Assam.

BJP's Development Record and Empowerment Schemes Highlighted

In contrast, the BJP spokesperson vigorously championed his party's record in government. He detailed a series of advancements ushered in under BJP leadership, spanning critical sectors like healthcare, education, and physical infrastructure.

Key achievements highlighted include:

  • The provision of a 3% reservation in government employment for indigenous communities.
  • The impactful 'Eti Koli Duti Paat' (Two Leaves and a Bud) scheme, specifically aimed at empowering the state's youth with skills and opportunities.

"Together, these initiatives represent a new era of dignity, self-reliance, and expansive opportunity for the people of Assam," Kalita concluded, positioning the BJP as the sole architect of a prosperous and secure future for the state.
