Bengaluru Metro Blue Line Work Triggers Three-Night Traffic Disruption at Marathahalli Junction
Significant traffic restrictions will be enforced in Bengaluru's bustling tech corridor for three consecutive nights, starting from Friday, to enable the crucial launch of Metro girders across the bridge on Outer Ring Road. This operation is a vital component of the ongoing Blue Line Metro project, which aims to enhance the city's public transportation infrastructure.
Timing and Scope of the Traffic Curbs
The traffic curbs will be strictly implemented between midnight and 3 AM, specifically targeting the Marathahalli junction, a key intersection known for its heavy vehicular flow. During this period, all vehicles traveling from the HAL side towards Varthur or Whitefield via Varthur Main Road and the Marathahalli bridge will face complete restrictions. Additionally, traffic moving in the opposite direction will also encounter similar limitations, ensuring a controlled environment for the Metro construction activities.
Detailed Alternate Routes for Motorists
To mitigate inconvenience, the traffic police have outlined comprehensive alternate routes. For motorists heading from HAL towards Whitefield or Varthur, the recommended detour is as follows:
- Take a left turn at Doddanekundi Junction.
- Proceed to Kartik Nagar Junction and reach Outer Ring Road.
- Turn left and execute a U-turn under the Doddanekundi flyover via Alpine Eco Road.
- Continue to Anjaneya Junction, then proceed via Kundalahalli Main Road and Graphite India Road to finally reach Whitefield.
Conversely, vehicles coming from Varthur or Whitefield towards HAL should follow this path:
- Travel via Kundalahalli Junction to Anjaneya Junction.
- Turn left onto Alpine Eco Road to access Outer Ring Road.
- Take a right at Kartik Nagar Junction, proceed to Doddanekundi Junction, and then turn right onto Varthur Main Road towards HAL.
Additional Alternative Route Suggested by Traffic Police
As an extra measure to ease traffic flow, the authorities have proposed another alternative for vehicles heading to HAL. This route involves:
- Traveling via Varthur Main Road to Vibgyor Junction.
- Turning left onto Vibgyor School Road, then proceeding to Balegere Main Road.
- Continuing to Kadubeesanahalli Junction, turning left onto Outer Ring Road.
- Finally, taking a left at the Marathahalli bridge junction to rejoin Varthur Main Road towards HAL.
The implementation of these traffic measures underscores the city's commitment to advancing its Metro network, despite the temporary disruptions. Residents and commuters are strongly advised to plan their journeys accordingly and adhere to the designated alternate routes to ensure smooth travel during the specified hours. This proactive approach by the traffic police aims to balance infrastructure development with minimal public inconvenience.
