Ahmedabad Fire Incidents: Two Major Blazes in Shela and Nava Vadaj Amid Rising Temperatures
Two significant fire incidents were reported in Ahmedabad on Thursday as soaring temperatures continued to grip the city, sparking panic in residential neighborhoods of Shela and Nava Vadaj. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in either incident, according to fire officials.
Major Fire at Skycity Rivera Elite in Shela
The first and more severe fire broke out around 7:58 AM at Skycity Rivera Elite, a prominent residential complex located off Club O7 Road in Shela. The blaze originated in a third-floor apartment within C block and rapidly spread to the fourth floor, with thick, dense smoke engulfing the building and reaching as high as the 15th floor. This prompted residents to evacuate their homes in a hurry.
Initially, approximately 40 to 50 residents were moved to the terrace as a precautionary measure due to heavy smoke accumulation in the staircases. Fire brigade personnel later conducted a safe evacuation through the stairways once the situation was brought under control. Officials confirmed that four occupants of the affected flat were rescued in time, thanks to an alert from security staff.
A large contingent of fire tenders was deployed from multiple fire stations, including Bopal, Thaltej, and Prahladnagar. Firefighters executed a coordinated operation and managed to bring the blaze under control within a short period. Authorities noted that the building's fire safety system was functional, which played a crucial role in preventing the fire from spreading further.
Preliminary findings indicate that the presence of wooden interiors in the flat may have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. However, the exact cause remains under investigation.
Separate Fire at Manor Residency in Nava Vadaj
In a separate incident later in the day, a fire broke out in a first-floor apartment at Manor Residency in Nava Vadaj. Fire teams responded promptly and successfully doused the flames before they could spread to adjoining units. As a precaution, residents were evacuated from the building.
Fire officials have stated that both incidents are currently under investigation to determine the precise causes and assess any potential safety lapses.
Key Points:
- No injuries or casualties reported in either fire incident.
- The Shela fire involved a large-scale evacuation and multiple fire tenders.
- Wooden interiors may have accelerated the fire spread in Shela.
- Both buildings' fire safety measures were reportedly functional.
- Investigations are ongoing to pinpoint the exact causes.
