Prime Minister Modi Reaffirms Central Government's Commitment to Tamil Nadu
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Saturday that the central government is fully dedicated to the welfare and progress of the people of Tamil Nadu. Speaking at an event in Trichy, he emphasized the administration's relentless efforts, stating, "We are working day and night for the welfare of the people, and we will continue to do so." This announcement came as he inaugurated several completed projects and laid the foundation stones for new initiatives across the state.
Major Infrastructure Projects Launched
The projects span critical sectors including energy, petroleum and natural gas, road transport and highways, railways, and rural development. Among the highlights was the inauguration of two new Amrit Bharat Express trains: the Nagercoil–Charlapalli route and the Podanur (Coimbatore)–Dhanbad route. These trains are expected to enhance connectivity and boost economic growth in the region.
Focus on Heritage and Safety at Gangaikonda Cholapuram
Prime Minister Modi also addressed the preservation of cultural heritage, referencing his visit last year to Gangaikonda Cholapuram for the Aadi Thiruvathirai festival. This UNESCO-recognized site, over 1,000 years old, currently has a highway passing close to the temple. To ensure visitor safety, a new bypass is being constructed to divert other vehicles away from the temple area. This move aims to protect the historical monument while improving traffic flow.
Broader Implications for Tamil Nadu's Development
The initiatives underscore the government's strategy to integrate infrastructure development with cultural conservation. By investing in transportation and energy projects, the administration seeks to stimulate local economies and improve living standards. The Prime Minister's remarks highlight a continued focus on Tamil Nadu as a priority region for national development efforts.
This event marks a significant step in strengthening the central government's ties with Tamil Nadu, showcasing a commitment to addressing both immediate and long-term needs of its residents.
