Uttarakhand Police Bust Arms Trafficking Ring, Seize Illegal Weapons in Jaspur
In a significant crackdown on illegal arms trade, the Udham Singh Nagar police, in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF) Kumaon unit, conducted a successful joint operation in Jaspur on Tuesday. The operation resulted in the arrest of two alleged arms traffickers and the seizure of a substantial cache of illegal firearms and ammunition.
Intelligence-Led Operation Leads to Arrests
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the law enforcement team intercepted a vehicle near the Patarampur underpass on the Jaspur service road. The suspects, identified as Shamsher Singh from Hajiro village and Simrandeep Singh from Anjaniya Farm, were taken into custody following the interception. The operation was meticulously planned to target individuals involved in the illicit arms trade, highlighting the proactive approach of the police in combating criminal networks.
Cache of Illegal Weapons Seized
During the operation, authorities confiscated a significant arsenal of illegal weapons from the suspects' vehicle. The seized items include:
- Two .32 bore pistols with 10 live cartridges
- Two 12-bore pump-action guns

"We are running a comprehensive drive against illegal arms and criminal networks to ensure the safety of our communities," stated SSP Ganpati.
