UP STF Cracks Down on Organized Exam Fraud Network
In a significant crackdown, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has dismantled a sophisticated cheating syndicate that manipulated competitive examinations through fraudulent means. The operation led to the arrest of nine individuals, including the alleged mastermind, exposing a well-organized racket that exploited Persons with Disabilities (PwD) provisions.
Intelligence-Driven Operation Uncovers Widespread Fraud
The STF action was initiated based on specific intelligence inputs regarding irregularities in the CBSE-conducted EMRS (Eklavya Model Residential Schools) Tier-II Junior Secretariat Assistant examination and other competitive tests. According to officials, the gang operated across multiple districts, including Jhansi and Jalaun, systematically targeting unemployed youth with promises of government jobs in exchange for substantial payments.
Modus Operandi: Fake Certificates and Professional Solvers
The accused allegedly arranged forged PwD certificates through middlemen, falsely declaring candidates as disabled to avail the facility of writers during examinations. These writers were not genuine helpers but professional solvers who would write answers on behalf of candidates, ensuring their selection through unfair means. An STF officer emphasized that this method guaranteed selection for paying candidates while bypassing legitimate competition.
Coordinated Raid and Arrests
Acting on a tip-off, an STF team under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Vimal Kumar Singh conducted a raid at an examination center located at Central Academy, Sector-4, Vikas Nagar. Eight suspects were detained from the center and later taken to Vikas Nagar police station for questioning. Based on their interrogation, another accused was brought from Gorakhpur and subsequently arrested, completing the nine-person apprehension.
Substantial Evidence Seized
During the operation, STF officials seized crucial evidence including:
- 13 mobile phones
- Two laptops
- Rs 2.70 lakh in cash
- A Swift Dzire car
- Six forged PwD certificates
This evidence provides substantial proof of the organized nature of the cheating operation.
Kingpin Confession Reveals Sophisticated Scheme
SSP, STF, Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan revealed that during interrogation, the alleged kingpin, Manish Mishra, confessed that the gang specialized in placing trained solvers as writers in offline examinations. These professional solvers would solve question papers for candidates posing as PwD applicants, creating an unfair advantage that compromised the integrity of competitive examinations.
The STF investigation continues to uncover the full extent of this cheating network, which has potentially affected numerous competitive examinations across Uttar Pradesh. This crackdown highlights ongoing efforts to maintain fairness and transparency in government recruitment processes.
