Two Men Assaulted by Unidentified Group in Ahmedabad, Police Investigation Underway
In a disturbing incident in Ahmedabad, two men were allegedly assaulted by a group of unidentified persons near the Dudheshwar crossroads on Sunday night. The Madhavpura police station registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Monday, launching a formal investigation into the violent altercation.
Details of the Assault
According to the official complaint, a 21-year-old daily wage worker and his friend had visited a temple in the Dudeshwar area on Sunday evening, traveling on a two-wheeler. Around 9:30 PM, while returning home, they reached a busy junction near the Jogani Mata temple. The complainant stated that while they were waiting in traffic, an unidentified man approached from behind, grabbed him by the hair, verbally abused him, and began physically assaulting him.
The situation escalated rapidly as several other individuals gathered and joined in the attack. During the scuffle, the complainant reported that Rs 500 he was carrying in his pocket fell and was lost. He further alleged that his friend was separated from him by some members of the group during the assault.
Escape and Subsequent Confrontation
As a crowd began to gather at the scene, the complainant managed to escape and ran towards the main road, where his friend arrived on the two-wheeler. The two men moved a short distance away, informed their acquaintances about the incident, and called the emergency helpline for assistance.
Police officers promptly reached the location and escorted the complainant back to the site of the initial assault. There, he identified one of the alleged attackers, which led to another confrontation between the group and the complainant's acquaintances. This second clash resulted in one of the complainant's friends being injured after being struck with a sharp object. The injured individual was immediately taken to a civil hospital for medical treatment.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
The Madhavpura police have registered a case against seven unidentified persons in connection with the assault. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is actively underway to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in both the initial attack and the subsequent confrontation.
