Two Friends Arrested for Murder of Partially Blind Man in Rae Bareli

In a shocking case from Uttar Pradesh, two individuals have been apprehended by the police for the brutal murder of their 24-year-old friend in Rae Bareli. The arrests were made on Sunday, following an investigation that relied heavily on surveillance technology.

Discovery of the Body

The body of the victim, identified as Ajay Kumar Saroj, a resident of Ratapur in Rae Bareli, was discovered in the Sharda canal near Kucharia village on Friday evening. The grim finding prompted an immediate police probe into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Arrests and Investigation Details

Superintendent of Police Ravi Kumar of Rae Bareli confirmed that the crime was cracked based on critical evidence from CCTV footage and surveillance inputs. The accused have been named as Ankush Yadav, from Murai Bagh in Dalmau, and Gaurav, also known as Ajit, from Matiha in Rae Bareli. Both men are in their early thirties and were reportedly close friends of the deceased.

Notably, Ajay was partially blind, and one of the accused, Ankush Yadav, is also blind, adding a tragic dimension to the case. The police investigation revealed that the murder was premeditated and stemmed from personal grievances.

Motive Behind the Crime

According to police statements, the motive for the murder was rooted in personal disputes. Ajay had allegedly informed Gaurav's father about his romantic relationship with a girl, which angered Gaurav. Simultaneously, Ankush, who had been a close friend of Ajay for nearly 15 years, suspected that Ajay had instigated his own girlfriend against him. These simmering tensions led Gaurav and Ankush to conspire to eliminate Ajay.

Execution of the Murder

On February 21, the accused lured Ajay under the pretext of sharing liquor. They took him to a secluded area near Kucharia village, where they made him consume alcohol and then assaulted him with an iron rod, resulting in his death. After the assault, they disposed of the body by dumping it into the canal.

CCTV cameras captured footage of Ajay, Gaurav, and Ankush at a petrol pump near the crime scene, which proved crucial in piecing together the sequence of events and establishing their involvement.

Post-Murder Evasion and Arrest

Following the murder, Ankush attempted to evade capture by traveling extensively across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Rajasthan. However, his efforts were in vain as he was arrested upon his return to Rae Bareli. Both accused have been produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody, pending further legal proceedings.

This case highlights the role of modern surveillance in solving crimes and underscores the tragic consequences of unresolved personal conflicts among friends.
