Ranchi Railway Division's RPF Clinches Coveted 2025 Zonal Security Shield
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Ranchi railway division has achieved a significant milestone by securing the prestigious zonal security shield for the year 2025. This honor, awarded under the South Eastern Railway (SER) zone, recognizes the force's outstanding performance in vigilance, crime control, and ensuring passenger safety, as confirmed in an official statement released on Saturday.
Recognition for Exemplary Performance
Officials detailed that the award is based on the RPF's achievements throughout the 2025 calendar year, highlighting their dedication and effectiveness in maintaining railway security. The shield will be formally presented to RPF divisional security commissioner Pawan Kumar at a special ceremony scheduled for February 17 at the SER headquarters in Kolkata.
Commissioner Kumar expressed pride in the accomplishment, noting, "The RPF Ranchi is winning this award after several years. Our remarkable achievements include significant seizures under the NDPS Act, the rescue of a large number of children, and saving trafficked persons, which have all contributed to this recognition."
Notable Achievements and Statistics
The RPF's efforts have yielded impressive results across various domains of railway security. According to sources within the force, their operations led to the apprehension of 47 criminals involved in stealing railway properties and 14 middlemen engaged in illegal ticket selling. Additionally, 21 individuals were arrested for passenger-related crimes such as theft, and 4,339 persons were nabbed for crimes against women.
In terms of rescue operations, the force successfully saved 272 children from various railway stations, demonstrating their commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals. On the enforcement front, the RPF seized 2,200 bottles of liquor and arrested 39 criminals in possession of 530 kilograms of cocaine. Three men were also held for attempting to drug passengers, further underscoring their vigilance.
Enforcement and Revenue Generation
The RPF's proactive measures extended to identifying unauthorized travelers, with 45,000 such individuals detected. This led to the collection of fines totaling Rs 3.04 crore, contributing to railway revenue while enforcing regulations. Moreover, 537 persons were fined for smoking on railway premises, emphasizing the force's role in maintaining public health and safety standards.
