In a significant crackdown on crime, the Pratapgarh police in Uttar Pradesh executed multiple successful operations on Sunday, leading to the arrest of several accused individuals involved in drug peddling, a rape case, and possession of explosives.
Drug Peddlers Nabbed With Methamphetamine Consignment
Acting on a specific tip-off, a team from the Raniganj police station intercepted two individuals near the Bhagipur village road. The police arrested the duo just as they were about to deliver a consignment of illegal drugs.
The arrested men have been identified as Mohd Anees (46) and Mohd Aslam (36), both residents of Raniganj. From their possession, the police confiscated 18.43 grams of methamphetamine (MD), a narcotic substance with a street value running into lakhs of rupees. The police also seized an SUV used by the accused in their illicit activities.
Both individuals have been formally charged under the stringent section 22 B of the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act).
Separate Arrests in Rape and Explosives Cases
In a parallel action from the same police station, the Raniganj police arrested another individual in connection with a serious crime. Deepak Kumar Patel (20), a resident of Karighat, was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in a rape case. He has been booked under relevant sections, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation demonstrating the police's wide-ranging crackdown, the Kunda police apprehended a known gangster. The police arrested Tufan Patel (28) of Khazipur near the Seikhpur road.
During his arrest, the police made a dangerous recovery, seizing two crude bombs and a motorcycle from his possession. Tufan Patel has been booked under the sections 4/5 of the Explosive Substances Act. Police officials revealed that three criminal cases were already pending against the arrested gangster.
