According to a formal complaint lodged by Ravinder Kumar, a resident near the power house on Banga Road in Phagwara, the burglary occurred overnight between March 20 and March 21, 2026. Kumar, who owns and operates the grocery store, reported that he had securely locked the shop's shutter around 9 pm on March 20 before leaving for the day.

Upon returning at approximately 7 am on March 21 to reopen the business, he was met with a distressing scene. The shutter had been forcibly lifted and damaged, indicating a forced entry. Inside, the shop was found ransacked, with goods scattered haphazardly across the floor, suggesting a hurried search by the intruders.

Inventory of Stolen Items and Police Response

A thorough inspection revealed that a variety of high-value items were missing from the premises. The stolen goods included:

  • Packets of almonds and cashews
  • Refined oil containers
  • Small and large cardamom
  • Cloves and other spices
  • Assorted dry fruits
  • Desi ghee tins
  • Cigarette boxes
  • Various other grocery products

In addition to these items, an undisclosed amount of cash was also taken during the burglary. The total estimated loss from the incident amounts to around Rs 40,000, encompassing both the stolen merchandise and the missing cash.

Following the discovery, Ravinder Kumar immediately informed the local police authorities. A formal case has been registered against unknown persons based on his complaint.
