The accused, identified as Faraz alias Mohammed Faraz, aged 32 and a resident of Deralakatte, had failed to appear before the court in numerous criminal cases, leading to a prolonged manhunt.

City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH provided detailed insights into the case. He stated that the accused is implicated in approximately 10 criminal cases registered across various police stations within Mangaluru city. These cases span a range of serious offenses, including:

- Drug peddling
- Theft
- Assault on prison officials while obstructing their duty
After being released on bail, Faraz absconded and consistently failed to attend court proceedings for nearly two years, evading legal accountability.

The criminal activities of the accused are spread across multiple jurisdictions in Mangaluru:
- At Ullal police station, four cases have been registered against him, involving attempted murder, robbery, assault, and theft. Additionally, he is listed as a rowdy-sheeter here, with six warrants and one proclamation currently pending.
- At Konaje police station, two cases are on record, related to assault, criminal intimidation, and theft.
- At Mangaluru North police station, two cases involve assault, intimidation, kidnapping, and robbery.
- At Barke police station, one case of attempted murder and obstruction of duty of officials is registered.
- At Urva police station, one case related to drug peddling is documented.
