Man, 34, Dies After Being Struck by Lorry on Madurai-Trichy Highway
A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 34-year-old man on the Madurai–Trichy national highway near Nagamangalam. The incident occurred late on Friday night when the pedestrian, identified as C Vellaisamy from Oliyamangalam in Pudukkottai district, was attempting to cross the road.
Details of the Accident
The accident took place opposite a private hospital. According to police reports, the lorry, driven by 33-year-old John Martin of Pudukkottai, struck Vellaisamy as he was crossing the highway. The impact resulted in severe head and facial injuries for the victim.
Medical Response and Fatal Outcome
Vellaisamy was immediately rushed to the Government Hospital in Trichy for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, his condition deteriorated, and he was later transferred to MGMGH. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of March 28 while undergoing intensive care.
Police Investigation and Aftermath
Following the incident, police conducted a postmortem examination, after which the body was handed over to Vellaisamy's relatives. Authorities have registered a case in connection with the accident, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the fatal collision.
