Man Arrested for Alleged Rape of Toddler Niece in Uttar Pradesh

According to police reports, the maternal uncle of the toddler took her out on Thursday under the pretext of buying biscuits. He allegedly led her to an isolated location where the violation occurred. After the incident, he abandoned the injured child on the doorstep of her house before fleeing the scene.
The young victim was immediately taken to a hospital where doctors provided necessary treatment. Medical professionals confirmed her condition was stable, and she was discharged after receiving appropriate care.
Police Encounter and Arrest
Later that night, law enforcement officials intercepted the accused during a routine vehicle check. The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly opened fire on police personnel, prompting them to retaliate in self-defense.
"The accused sustained a bullet injury to his leg in the exchange and was taken to hospital under police custody. Legal proceedings have been initiated," stated DSP Ramashish Yadav.

A case has been registered under section 65(2) (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. During the arrest, police recovered an illegal country-made pistol, a live cartridge, and an empty cartridge from the accused's possession.
"BNS section 109 (attempt to murder) and Arms Act charges have been added to the FIR. Further investigation is underway and action will be taken accordingly," explained the Station House Officer (SHO).
