Ricky Rai appeared before the Cubbon Park traffic police on Monday evening after securing anticipatory bail, where he recorded his statement. He maintained that he was not driving the luxury vehicle during the alleged incident early Saturday on MG Road. Narayanswamy explained to the media that the driver was behind the wheel, and the skid occurred when brakes were applied on a recently repaired surface covered with mud.
"The driver managed to control the vehicle and continued driving. His skill should be appreciated," Narayanswamy stated, emphasizing that the situation was blown out of proportion. He criticized the police response, noting that in similar cases of drifting or wheeling, authorities typically impose spot fines and release vehicles. "Why was an FIR registered here? This is at best a Rs 1,000-fine case," he argued, suggesting unfair targeting of Rai, who had returned from Russia just a day prior and was questioned for nearly three hours.
