Kochi Road Rage Incident: Electric Scooter Rider Assaults Auto Driver with Helmet
In a shocking incident of road rage, the Ernakulam North police in Kochi have registered a case after a two-wheeler rider violently attacked a 34-year-old man on a service road near the North Overbridge on Saturday. The victim, identified as Sulfikar T S, an autorickshaw driver from Aluva, sustained injuries in the assault, which has sparked concerns over public safety in the area.
Details of the Attack as per FIR
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the police, the attack occurred around 1:30 PM on Saturday. The accused arrived at the scene riding an electric scooter, wearing a helmet, mask, and gloves, which obscured his identity. The incident unfolded when Sulfikar, driving his autorickshaw, encountered a goods vehicle parked on the road, blocking his path. He stopped his vehicle and got down to approach the driver of the parked goods vehicle to resolve the obstruction.
Meanwhile, the accused, who was on the electric scooter, began screaming at Sulfikar, demanding that he move his autorickshaw immediately. In response, Sulfikar pushed the accused in a defensive gesture. This prompted the accused to retaliate aggressively by removing his helmet and striking Sulfikar multiple times with it, causing significant harm. The FIR details that the attack was so severe that passers-by had to intervene to stop the assault and protect the victim.

The Ernakulam North police have registered the case based on Sulfikar's formal complaint, which outlines the sequence of events leading to the violent confrontation. Authorities are actively investigating the incident, with efforts focused on tracing the accused, who fled the scene after the attack.
