Kanpur Woman Accuses Husband and YouTuber of Defamation Conspiracy
A woman from Kanpur has filed a formal complaint against her husband and a YouTuber, alleging they collaborated in a malicious plot to defame her by creating and spreading a fabricated video on social media. The incident, which has sparked police involvement, centers on a video titled 'Luteri Dulhan' that went viral, causing significant distress to the complainant.
Details of the Alleged Defamation Scheme
According to the complaint lodged at the Naubasta police station, Nidhi Sharma, a resident of Naubasta Awas-Vikas 3 in Kanpur, reported that her husband, Himanshu Sharma, who resides in Noida, orchestrated the defamation. She claims that Himanshu paid Rs 20,000 to Prayagraj-based YouTuber Praveen Kumar Dubey to produce and viralize an audio-video clip aimed at tarnishing her reputation.
The situation escalated when the YouTuber allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from Nidhi in exchange for not releasing the video. Fearing the potential damage to her social standing, she transferred Rs 17,000 via UPI on multiple occasions. However, when she failed to pay the remaining amount, the YouTuber proceeded to make the fabricated video titled 'Luteri Dulhan' go viral across various social media platforms.
Police Investigation Underway
Inspector Bahadur Singh of the Naubasta police station confirmed that the allegations are being thoroughly investigated. The police are examining the evidence, including the viral video and financial transactions, to determine the validity of the claims and identify any criminal wrongdoing. This case highlights growing concerns over the misuse of social media for personal vendettas and defamation in India.
The incident underscores the urgent need for stricter regulations and awareness regarding online harassment and digital defamation. As social media continues to play a pivotal role in daily life, such cases serve as a stark reminder of the potential for abuse and the importance of legal recourse for victims.
