As news of the petrol spill spread rapidly through the area, locals descended upon the accident site armed with containers of all shapes and sizes. Eager to collect what they perceived as free fuel, a chaotic scene unfolded as people pushed, shoved, and jostled each other in a desperate bid to access the spilled petrol from the abandoned tanker. The driver had safely parked the vehicle on the side of Gujaini Highway when a speeding dumper collided with it, causing the tank to rupture and spill petrol across the roadway.

Police immediately notified Bharat Petroleum officials, who dispatched employees to the accident site. The response team managed to seal the leak in the damaged tanker using an improvised combination of soap and silver tape. With assistance from local residents, police successfully moved the compromised tanker to a safer position alongside the road.
