Gurgaon Milkman Succumbs to Injuries After Hit-and-Run Accident

A tragic incident unfolded in Gurgaon as a 21-year-old milkman, Azharul Islam, died during treatment on Wednesday, following a severe road accident. The young resident of Sector 66, Badshahpur, was on his early morning milk delivery route when his life was cut short.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The accident occurred around 4 am on March 23 near St Xavier’s School in Sector 49. According to police reports, a loading tempo, allegedly driven at high speed, jumped a red light and violently rammed into the auto-rickshaw carrying Azharul. The tempo driver immediately fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.

Azharul sustained critical injuries in the collision and was rushed to Park Hospital for emergency care. Medical professionals at the hospital stated that his condition was so severe that he was unfit to provide any statement to authorities.

Hospital Protest and Family Allegations

Tension escalated at Park Hospital on Wednesday evening when Azharul was officially declared dead. Family members gathered at the hospital premises and staged a vigorous protest, raising serious allegations against the hospital management.

The family claimed that Azharul had actually died a day earlier and that the hospital deliberately delayed disclosing his death to inflate medical bills. They alleged that hospital authorities only revealed the death after all outstanding dues were cleared by the family.

A large crowd of protesters gathered, shouting slogans against the hospital administration and demanding immediate legal action. The situation grew tense as some demonstrators attempted to block the road outside the hospital premises.

Police Intervention and Official Response

Police personnel from Sadar and Sector 50 police stations quickly arrived at the scene to manage the escalating situation. They successfully dispersed the crowd and restored order. Authorities noted that no formal complaints were received against either the protesters or the hospital regarding the incident.

Dr. PN Kakar, CEO of Park Hospitals, responded to the allegations by stating that the patient was in critical condition and on ventilator support. "The family was continuously informed about his deteriorating condition," Dr. Kakar explained. "They were planning to transfer him to another facility, but he unfortunately passed away during this process. Our medical team followed all established protocols and performed their duties with complete professionalism and honesty."

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

Based on a formal complaint filed by Azharul's father, Mofijur Rahman, police registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Initially, charges were filed under sections 281 (rash driving), 125(a) (rash or negligent act endangering life), and 324(4) (mischief).

Following Azharul's death during treatment, Section 106 (causing death due to negligence) was added to the case. Police confirmed that the victim's body was sent for autopsy and subsequently handed over to the grieving family.

"Our investigation is actively ongoing," stated a police officer involved in the case. "We are making concerted efforts to identify and apprehend the tempo driver who fled the accident scene. The search operation continues with full diligence."

The tragic incident has highlighted concerns about road safety in Gurgaon and raised questions about hospital transparency during critical medical emergencies. As the legal process moves forward, the community mourns the loss of a young worker whose life ended abruptly during his daily duties.
