Tragic Hit-and-Run Claims Farmer's Life on Gurgaon Flyover
A 55-year-old farmer lost his life in a devastating hit-and-run incident early Thursday morning on the Sohna-Gurgaon road flyover. The victim, identified as Sule Khan from Tapkan village in Nuh, was part of a group transporting tomatoes to a city vegetable market when tragedy struck.
Midnight Journey Turns Deadly
The fatal accident occurred around 3 AM near Shri Ram Dhaba on the busy flyover. According to police reports, Khan and three companions—Khalid, Haroon, and driver Rizwan—had set out around midnight in a Bolero pickup vehicle loaded with tomatoes. Their journey was interrupted when the vehicle suffered a rear tyre burst on the elevated stretch.
The group spent approximately 15 minutes replacing the damaged tyre. Just as they were preparing to resume their journey, a canter truck traveling at high speed crashed into their stationary vehicle from behind. The impact was severe, catching all four men who were standing near the pickup at the moment of collision.
Emergency Response and Aftermath
Alert passers-by immediately notified the police control room, prompting the dispatch of emergency response vehicles and police teams to the accident site. The injured were quickly transported to Sohna Civil Hospital, where doctors declared Sule Khan dead on arrival.
Khalid sustained serious injuries in the collision and was initially treated at the local civil hospital before being referred to PGIMS Rohtak for advanced medical care. Haroon and Rizwan suffered minor injuries and are reported to be out of danger, though traumatized by the horrific experience.
Police Investigation Underway
Police confirmed that the canter driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, abandoning the vehicle at the location. The damaged vehicles were subsequently moved aside to restore traffic flow on the crucial transportation artery.
Based on a complaint filed by Khan's son Sajid and supporting medical records, authorities have registered a case at Sadar police station. The charges include sections 281 (rash driving), 125(A) (rash or negligent acts endangering human life), and 106(1) (causing death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police teams have initiated intensive efforts to identify and apprehend the absconding driver. The investigation continues as authorities examine the scene and gather additional evidence to build a strong case against the responsible party.
